I just love illustrations, plain and simple, custom ones in particular! So I am absolutely elated that this year’s trends seems to focus on just that:

It doesn’t matter if the illustration is used sparingly or as a big hero, as long as this trend is going on or even growing, I am happy.
You might ask why are illustrations special? Why not do the old “by a stock illustration and safe money”?
Stock illustrations are overused. No offense, there are some fantastic stock illustrations out there, but ater a while you see them everywhere an it gets boring. I used to work or a company dealing with product design and packaging and at one point I could spot stock images everywhere. Now what does that do to the product? Your website? It makes it look like everyone else.
Having a custom illustration makes you look more unique and in a way “one of a kind”.
