Creating Easy Isometric Illustrations in Adobe Illustrator

Creating isometric illustrations in Adobe illustrator doesn’t have to be complicated nor does it require an isometric grid. You can use the 3d Tools and pretty quickly create designs in isometric view. Don’t get me wrong, I use an isometric grid often, especially when working in more complex designs, but sometimes the 3d tools are just enough. Plus you can set the highlights and get a good idea where you will need to place the shadows and hotspots.

Since isometric icon design is still popular especially for web design assets, I created a tutorial. I chose a smartphone as an example since they are fun to work with. Check it out below 🙂
